Functional Nutrition Testing
In order to provide you with the best possible outcome, certain clinical tests are required. These may involve collection of blood, saliva, urine and/or stool. Below is a list of possible testing we may recommend at your visit. Your insurance may cover some of this testing. However many functional labs do not take insurance or require a higher than usual upfront payment. For complete pricing information, contact Sheila Vuckovic at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A visit with one of our practitioners is required before any testing will be ordered. You must also schedule a follow up appointment to discuss this testing.
If you need to return to the office to complete your testing, please allow us to schedule a specific lab appointment. To ensure the utmost accuracy, please read all instructions contained in lab kits.
Spectracell Micronutrient Test - This test evaluates vitamin and mineral deficiencies, carbohydrate metabolism and antioxidant status.
➢ PURPOSE - Nutritional deficiencies can cause a wide range of symptoms such as weight gain, fatigue, insomnia and digestive problems. Poor carbohydrate metabolism can tell us about blood sugar and liver issues. Antioxidants are important cancer fighters and keep your cells young.
➢ DETAILS - This is a non-fasting blood draw taken in our office. Results can take up to 6 weeks.
➢ PAYMENT - Payment must be made at time of lab draw; spectracell does require an out of pocket payment in addition to filing an insurance claim. Spectracell does accept all major insurance carriers and Medicare.

➢ PURPOSE - Nutritional deficiencies can cause a wide range of symptoms such as weight gain, fatigue, insomnia and digestive problems. Imbalanced fatty acids can contribute to inflammation and poor probiotic levels can cause yeast overgrowth and other digestive issues.

➢ PURPOSE – Abnormal cholesterol can be a symptom of other problems such as inflammation and poor liver function. Low cholesterol can be one of the factors leading to infertility and depression. These tests also identify metabolic abnormalities that may progress into diabetes if not addressed. Certain markers such as leptin and insulin can give us a deeper insight into any weight loss issues.
➢ DETAILS - This is a fasting blood draw done in our office. Withhold all food except for water or black coffee after midnight.
➢ PAYMENT - Payment must be made at time of lab draw; Spectracell does require an out of pocket payment in addition to filing an insurance claim. Spectracell does accept all major insurance carriers and Medicare.

This test utilizes DNA technology and is considered the most sensitive assessment tool for parasites, bacterial infections and other GI abnormalities. Adequate colonization of the appropriate bacteria is necessary to ensure optimal digestion and absorption of essential nutrients. The gut microbiome often holds the key to true wellness.
➢ PURPOSE - Yeast overgrowth can cause depression, weight gain, skin problems, foggy thinking and more. Faulty digestion can lead to constipation, diarrhea, IBS type symptoms and more.
➢ DETAILS - This test is completed at home and mailed by the patient in the prepaid packaging provided with the kit. It is a one time collection only and you can stay on all vitamins and supplements.
