Billing and Appointments FAQ
Do you accept my insurance?
We participate with many health plans. We do our very best to verify network participation, eligibility and benefits before your appointment. This verification will be used to estimate your financial responsibility; however, this verification is not a guarantee by your health plan of coverage or payment.
Please be prepared to submit your current insurance card(s) at each visit.
Will you file a claim on my behalf or will I have to file my own claim?
As a courtesy to our patients, we will file claims with their insurance company.
How much will I have to pay at the time of my visit?
You are responsible to pay according to your deductible, copay, and/or coinsurance. Our office does our best to calculate the appropriate amount however, it is your insurance company that determines the actual final amount owed. At times this amount can be greater than we estimated and therefore you may receive a bill.
For many people the insurance coverage for specialists has recently changed. In years past patients may have paid a small copay to see specialists and now are being charged upwards of $250 per visit. This is likely because their plans have changed to deductible plans. Our financial and billing department work diligently with insurance companies to obtain the most accurate benefits.
What do I do if I get a bill from a Lab?
As a courtesy to our patients we do have a lab drawing station in our office. The lab however is an independent business entity that in fact bills your insurance separately. Should there be problems with lab charges please call Lab Corp or Quest Labs directly as only they can adjust your bill
If it is a specialty lab such as Spectracell and/or Genova:
- These labs charge an upfront fee that must be paid directly to that lab when the test is performed. Spectracell/Genova will then bill your insurance for the remaining amount. If your insurance does not pay the full amount billed, you will receive an Estimation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance company. This is NOT a bill.
- If you receive a bill from Spectracell Laboratories, please contact Melissa Sewell at email@example.com.
- Genova has an Easy Pay program that only includes certain insurance carriers. Their website contains more information about their billing policies and procedures. If you receive a bill from Genova Diagnostics, please contact Sheila at firstname.lastname@example.org
Is there a late cancellation or no show fee?
Due to the fact that our physicians have busy patient schedules we must enforce a no show policy. Our office policy states that you will be charged $50.00 if you do not cancel 24 hours in advance.
What if I have a medical emergency after hours?
Please call the after-hours answering service at 713-984-5935 for the doctor on call.
